I am 17 years old and from Rathangan Co. Kildare.
I was chosen by the late Ian McKeever, shortly before he died, to climb Kilimanjaro.
This would be a major challenge for me as I have Cystic Fibrosis.
Some people had a negative attitude about me climbing but Ian McKeever thought differently and this made me more determined to do it.
I climbed Mt Kilimanjaro in August 2013 but unfortunately became unwell at 14,000ft and had to descend.
I was extremely disappointed – No words can really describe how I felt.
When I arrived back home from Africa one very special person told me ” Go do it again – If at first you don’t succeed – Try again ”
So I made up my mind – I would do it again.
My journey began AGAIN in January 2014 – this time with my 2 best friends Neil Mockler and Jack Hennessy.
We trained to-gether for months under the guidance of Dr Padraig Sheeran and the team of Kilimanjaro Achievers.
I knew the task that lay ahead and with the help of my friends and the Kilimanjaro Team I felt more determined than ever to do this.
We climbed to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro on Friday 31st October 2014.
My dream had come through.
I did it.
I stood on the Roof of Africa.
No words can really describe how I felt.
